Welcome to American Boer Goat Association, the largest Boer goat registry in the world. Headquartered in San Angelo, Texas, ABGA provides registry services to the Boer goat industry. The association maintains a genetic database of over 300,000 animals. Since the formation of ABGA in 1993, over 30,000 goat producers have used the services of ABGA. Members of ABGA can benefit from association programs in marketing, genetic improvement, commercial production, education and youth. The mission of ABGA is to record, promote and protect the American Boer goat breed. The vision of ABGA is as a dynamic organization efficiently providing the integrated program delivery to lead a rapidly growing breed association and an expanding agriculture industry. In carrying out the goals of this plan, the ABGA staff and directors will adhere to key values. ABGA staff and directors will be guided by the following principles as they address challenges within the American Boer goat industry:
- Strong ethics
- Team work
- Inclusive decision making
- Fiscal responsibility
To achieve these strategic goals, this plan emphasizes results that hinge on teamwork across the membership and with our goat industry partners. As part of this plan, we intend to improve both the short-term and long-term leadership abilities needed to implement this strategy.
