Lauren Green
Region 6
Lauren Green was born and raised in western New Mexico and attended New Mexico State University, majoring in Biochemistry. She later pursued veterinary medicine in Colorado.
Throughout her life, Lauren has raised horses, cattle, sheep, and goats. In her younger years, she held titles such as NM State Fair Queen and Miss Rodeo NM. She managed a 280,000-acre ranch for many years, raising registered Angus, Brangus, and Hereford cattle. Additionally, she served as the ranch vet for 3,000 head of cattle and about 25 horses, and also raised and showed Nubian goats.
During her ranching years, Lauren became certified in pregnancy detection, artificial insemination, range management conservation, and as a certified Brangus judge. After leaving the livestock industry for a few years, she became an instructor for hospitals, teaching and supporting doctors and nurses in using a new electronic medical record system, traveling across the country. During this time, she also became involved in raising Boers, with her daughter boarding the animals during lengthy training positions.
Lauren has been a member of the ABGA and has raised Boers for over 17 years. She possesses a broad background in veterinary medicine and marketing breeding stock for both cattle and goats, facing the challenges of raising them in various environments, from the mountainous semi-arid lands of New Mexico to the lush, damp, and humid country of Missouri.
Outside of the ABGA, Lauren continues to remotely train doctors and nurses, raise Boers, and occasionally show them. She has two daughters who were raised on the ranch and were invaluable helpers. Lori Peterson, one daughter, owns ShowMeBoers, while the other daughter, Kristen, works in the field of EMR on a corporate level in Florida, overseeing a company that implements EMR systems. Although Kristen is not involved with goats, Lori and Lauren work closely together on the goats.
Lauren is honored to represent her region and all members of the Board and organization of the ABGA.
