ABGA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETINGS:
The ABGA Board of Directors meeting minutes from October 11, 2022, are now available online HERE. For more information regarding agenda items in the minutes, please contact the ABGA Director(s) for your Region.
GOOD LUCK CERTIFICATION ATTENDEES:
ABGA would like to wish the attendees of the Judges Certification the best of luck as they pursue their ABGA Certified Judge status.
UPDATE YOUR HERD:
As 2022 draws to an end, the ABGA office encourages all members to update their herd inventory through Online Live, via email (mail@abga.org), or by calling the ABGA office at (325) 486-2242.
TRANSFERRING ABGA ANIMALS:
There are ONLY three ways to transfer animals from buyer to seller with ABGA:
Via Certificate of Registration:
Find the ‘Transfer’ section on the back of the Certificate of Registration.
Provide the name and ABGA member number of the buyer (or name and mailing information, if the buyer is a non-member).
Provide the seller’s signature & date of purchase.
Via Transfer Application (available HERE):
Transfer Applications are required if the original Certificate of Registration is not available.
Transfer Applications MUST be filled out completely and include:
Goat Information (including name, registration number, both ear tattoos, and animal’s date of birth).
Seller information (including name, member number, signature, and date of sale).
Buyer information (including name, member number, signature, and date of sale).
A statement explaining why the original Certificate is not available.
If the buyer is a non-member, a complete mailing address is required in place of a member number.
Via Online Live:
Sellers can transfer animals to buyers through Online Live if the buyer is an ABGA member. ABGA members cannot transfer animals to non-members through Online Live.
The use of correction fluid (White Out) or any other medium invalidates ABGA Certificates of Registration. This includes transfer information written on the reverse side. The seller may "correct" the mistake on the Transfer portion (back) of a Certificate with a single line drawn through the mistake and the seller's initials.
RE-TATTOOING ANIMALS:
If an ABGA registered animal requires re-tattooing, the new tattoo must be placed directly on top of the old tattoo. According to the ABGA Rules and Regulations, the Certificate of Registration must be returned to ABGA, and the Certificate is reissued to reflect that the animal has been retattooed. For more information, see the ABGA Rules and Regulations.
REGISTRATIONS:
We are currently processing work submitted on November 1, 2022.
We would like to welcome 95 new members who joined ABGA and JABGA in the month of October. We’re glad you are part of our ABGA family!
When completing a Registration Application (including in Online Live), be sure to include the registration numbers of both parents of the animal. Mark unregistered animals as BOERX (dam) or UBUCK (sire).
ABGA VIRTUAL COSTUME PARADE:
In true Trick-or-Treat spirit, we asked ABGA members from across the country to show us their best goat costumes on Facebook and Instagram. We want to thank everyone who submitted photos and joined in the Halloween fun!
You can view all the cute and kooky photos on our website:
ABGA SANCTIONED SHOWS:
If your show points are missing from the Blue Screen or are not calculated correctly, we may be waiting for the results from your show secretary. Show secretaries have 30 days after the show to submit results to ABGA. Contact your show secretary FIRST if your show points are missing.
Animals with a pending registration or outstanding Request For Information (RFI) are not eligible for ABGA or JABGA sanctioned shows, because they are not officially registered. For more information, see the ABGA Rules and Regulations.
BOOKKEEPING:
Payments made through Online Live instantly apply to your account. Payments made through the Payment Center add credit to your account and can take up to three business days to process.
DNA:
DNA Processing: UC Davis' average processing time is 20-25 days.
We have received most DNA results up to October 28, 2022.
