The objective of this contest is to gain the ability to work with a team to enhance the show ring performance of the groomed animal. Adult Fitting Contest The objective of this contest is to gain the ability to work with a team to enhance the show ring performance of the groomed animal. Adult Fitting Competition Open to anyone $150 for each 2 person team Half of the proceeds go to JABGA, other half go to winning team. People’s choice will also be awarded! Rules: The objective of this contest is to gain the ability to work with a team to enhance the show ring performance of the groomed animal. Each team will consist of no more than TWO INDIVIDUALS. Each team will be responsible for bringing a goat to use in the competition. Animals can be pre-clipped and need to be washed and dried, but no products are allowed on the animal upon entering the competition. All animals will be checked for products before entering the competition area. Each team must provide their own fitting equipment. Once the contest begins, no team member may leave the area and no additional equipment may be brought into the fitting area. All team members and equipment must be in place at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the contest. Each team will be allowed 20 minutes to fit their animal. ALL FITTING TECHNIQUES MUST BE WITHIN THE ACCEPTED PRACTICES OF THE AMERICAN BOER GOAT ASSOCIATION’S SANCTIONED SHOW RULES. Judge will circulate and question participants during the 30 minutes. Points will be awarded as follows: Ability to fit- 25 points. Participation of each team member - 10 points. Organization of supplies & equipment - 5 points. Overall effect - 5 points. ABGA is now accepting candidates to judge the 2025 ABGA & JABGA National Show held in Louisville, Kentucky from May 28 - June 6, 2025. Submissions must be completed via this form by 5:00 PM CST on Friday, February 14, 2025. Submissions made past this deadline will not be considered to judge the 2025 ABGA and JABGA National Show. Judges are needed for the following shows: ABGA National Show (Team of 3 judges) JABGA National Show (Team of 3 judges) JABGA National Bred and Owned Show, JABGA National Breeding Showmanship, Coni Ross Class (Team of 2 judges) JABGA National Market Goat Show, JABGA National Commercial Doe Show, JABGA National Market Showmanship (One (1) judge) Eligibility: All eligible judge submissions will be listed and sent to eligible members to vote for their picks for the 2025 National Show judges. Judges must be an ABGA member in good standing (renewed and dues paid for 2025 by January 1, 2025). Judges must be approved as an ABGA Certified Judge by January 1, 2025. Judges may not have judged in any ABGA or JABGA National Show in 2024 including the JABGA Bred & Owned, JABGA Commercial & Market Shows. Judges will be requested to talk reasons through at least 10th place in all show classes. Judges will be required to use a placing method set forth and approved by the ABGA Board of Directors. The JABGA Board of Directors will invite 5 non ABGA-certified judges to submit for the JABGA National Market Show, in addition to the ABGA-certified judges that submit their nomination to judge. National Show Internship Opportunities Become an intern at ABGA National Show in Louisville, KY (May 28 - June 8, 2025). The ABGA takes great pride in providing exceptional learning opportunities that offer real-world applications. The ABGA hopes that our intern’s knowledge and experience gathered during their time at the National Show continues to be applied to the outside world and to their future endeavors. This is an unpaid internship role. Hotel and food costs will be covered daily. Position: National Show General Internship (3) and National Show Media Internship (1) Location: Louisville, Kentucky - Kentucky Exposition Center Dates: May 28 - June 8, 2025 Applications Due: April 15, 2025 Program Purpose:   The purpose of the ABGA and JABGA National Show Internship program is to provide a learning experience for recent high school graduates (18+), college students, college graduates and/or those interested in the American Boer Goat Association. Interns will gain experience in conducting and executing a National Show as well as gain exposure and network with agriculture leaders from across the United States. Interns will be expected to provide ABGA with assistance in daily tasks during the National Show and to provide social media coverage for the event.   Eligibility/Requirements: Applicants must be a 2024 high school graduate (18+) or older. Applicants cannot be exhibitors or competitors at the 2025 ABGA and JABGA National Show. A candidate with prior show experience is a plus. Must be able to provide your own means of transportation to the National Show at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Applicants should possess excellent communication skills with a strong work ethic. Self-motivation and the ability to work on a task with minimal supervision is ideal. A positive attitude and organizational skills are beneficial. Applicants must be available to work the entire length of the National Show. Internship Program: Interns will assist the JABGA Board and the ABGA office staff with specified tasks during the weeklong internship. Interns must provide their own way to the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky on May 28, 2025, and must work through the duration of the event to June 7, 2025. General Show Intern duties include, but are not limited to:  Set up of ABGA Office and supplies   Assist in the unloading process for exhibitors   Work the check-in gate during the arrival times of exhibitors Ensure cleanliness of ringside tables and bleachers   Aid in the setting up of the JABGA Awards Banquet Gather all show awards the morning of each show Assist with make-up ring and show results Media Intern duties include, but are not limited to:   Posting Show updates on social media  Taking pictures/video  Posting pictures/videos on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok  Post all showmanship and division winners on social media.   General media coverage of the National Show. Justin Burns of J and J Livestock in Eastland, Texas, judges shows nationwide, and educates youth in the livestock industry. JABGA Wether-Type Judge: Justin Burns Justin Burns of J and J Livestock in Eastland, Texas, judges shows nationwide, and educates youth in the livestock industry. Justin Burns is from Eastland, Texas where he, his wife Jennifer and two kids own and operate J and J Livestock. He and his family currently run a herd of about 200 Does and 100 show type sheep. He has judged market and breeding shows is 37 states. He continues to educate himself on the current market trends, uses superior genetics, and animal evaluation to improve his herd in-order to raise the best quality animals that are competitive in show arenas across the United States. Completing his Bachelor Science Degree from Sacramento State University in CA fueled his desire to educate the youth entering the goat industry so he's dedicated his time, knowledge, and experience to organizing and teaching several educational seminars for the livestock industry. Jason Brashear, Boer goat judge since 2007, raises goats in Kentucky and leads Pine Mountain Settlement School, focusing on sustainability and Appalachian culture. JABGA Judge: Jason Brashear Jason Brashear, Boer goat judge since 2007, raises goats in Kentucky and leads Pine Mountain Settlement School, focusing on sustainability and Appalachian culture. Jason Brashear from Hazard, Kentucky and has been raising Boer Goats since 1999. He started judging in early 2000s and became a licensed judge first with the International Boer Goat Association in 2007 and the ABGA in 2014. Jason has been blessed to have judged county fairs, majors and national shows coast to coast.  Jason Brashear He is the Executive Director of Pine Mountain Settlement School in Harlan County Kentucky that focusses on Environmental Literacy, Sustainable Agriculture, and Appalachian Culture and Craft. Linda West of Whitesboro, Texas, is the managing partner of Circle Bar W Boers, a Boer goat breeder and judge with a passion for mentoring and the industry. ABGA Open Show Judge: Linda West Linda West of Whitesboro, Texas, is the managing partner of Circle Bar W Boers, a Boer goat breeder and judge with a passion for mentoring and the industry. Linda West lives in Whitesboro, Texas and is the managing partner of Circle Bar W Boers. In 2003 she and her husband Lynn, who passed away in 2015, along with their two sons Ken and Jason transition from registered Quarter horses and Angus cattle to the Boer goat industry. Starting with only two does and a buck, they grew their herd and in 2009 they were honored to win the National Champion Senior buck class at the National show with Teflon. Linda West Along the show trail Linda met and made many friends and she enjoyed mentoring dozens of JABGA kids that have gone on to college and to families themselves. Linda was also honored to serve as director for region seven and over saw the production of two national shows. After she passed judging school, she has judged from East to West Coast and has a few states left to visit. She has a passion for the breed and considers it an honor to have the opportunity to judge across the country & meet new people and see some amazing animals. Wade Rogers from Florida raises Boer goats and Charolais cattle, serving as Boer Goat superintendent at the Florida State Fair since 2019. Superintendent: Wade Rogers Wade Rogers from Florida raises Boer goats and Charolais cattle, serving as Boer Goat superintendent at the Florida State Fair since 2019. Wade Rogers is from Fort White, Florida. He is married to Stephanie and they have two daughters, Amber and Jaylyn. Together they own Rogers Livestock, where they raise registered Boer goats as well as registered Charolais cattle. Wade and his family have been involved in the goat industry since 2016 raising and showing both registered and market goats. Wade has been the Boer Goat superintendent at the Florida State Fair since 2019. He is also part of the show committee that puts on the Fall Spooktacular show, an annual jackpot show that is the largest multi-species show in Florida. This will be the fourth year he has been to the ABGA Nationals show, and he is looking forward to working with all the exhibitors to make it one of the best Nationals yet. Brian Hardy runs H&C Boer Goat Farm in Taylorsville, NC, showcasing over 100 goats and hosting the Carolina Country Classic Boer Goat Show. Superintendent: Brian Hardy Brian Hardy runs H&C Boer Goat Farm in Taylorsville, NC, showcasing over 100 goats and hosting the Carolina Country Classic Boer Goat Show. Brian Hardy lives in the small rural town of Taylorsville, NC where he owns and operates H&C Boer Goat Farm with his wife Brooke and daughter Claire. His involvement in the Boer Goat industry started in 2017 with the purchase of some land, a bottle baby goat, and a daughter who loves goats. Today, the farm has grown to over 100 head of registered does, registered bucks & commercial does. Brian and Claire have been showing goats across the United States in both ABGA and commercial shows for the past 8 years. In 2023, Brian decided to host a show in North Carolina called The Carolina Country Classic Boer Goat Show. During this time, Brian has learned the importance of ring-side superintendents and the various operational tasks of conducting a show.
