The 2026 ABGA & JABGA National Show “The Grand Safari” was a tremendous success as exhibitors, families, volunteers, judges, sponsors, and supporters from across the country gathered in Grand Island, Nebraska, to celebrate the very best of the Boer goat industry. This year's National Show featured an impressive 3,441 total entries, showcasing the continued strength and growth of our association. The ABGA Open Show included 834 entries, while the JABGA Breeding Show welcomed 629 entries and the JABGA Bred & Owned Show featured 347 entries. Additional competitions included 164 Wether Dam entries, 65 Market Goats, and 16 competitors in the Ultrasound Contest. Our youth program continued to thrive with 675 JABGA contest entries, along with 185 exhibitors competing in Breeding Showmanship and 104 exhibitors participating in Market Showmanship. These events continue to develop the knowledge, leadership, and communication skills that prepare the next generation of Boer goat breeders. One of the most exciting additions to this year's National Show was the introduction of Grand Champion Drives for the junior breeding shows. These championship drives created an exciting atmosphere while giving our junior exhibitors the opportunity to compete for National Champion honors on a premier stage. The positive response from exhibitors and spectators made this one of the highlights of the week. The National Show also provided opportunities beyond competition. We were honored to welcome a delegation from Japan to learn more about American Boer goat genetics and explore future opportunities for international collaboration. Additionally, a judges clinic was presented by Olivia Rush, Patrick Aliff and Corey Billups, where members were able to learn more about cull-faults, structure and live evaluation. Events of this size are only possible because of the dedication of so many individuals. A special thank you goes to Rodney Wilson, who served as National Show Chair, and the dedicated ABGA staff. Together, their countless hours of preparation and attention to detail were instrumental in delivering another successful event. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our outstanding judges for their professionalism and expertise, our volunteers and committee members for their countless hours of service, and our sponsors for their continued support. Most importantly, thank you to every exhibitor, breeder, family, and supporter who traveled to Grand Island. Members attending the 2026 National Show had the opportunity to attend an educational clinic led by ABGA Certified Judges Olivia Rush, Patrick Aliff, and Corey Billups. Throughout the session, participants worked directly with live animals while engaging in discussions on breed standards, structure, and cull faults. The judges walked attendees through the ABGA breed standards and how the decision-making process used when evaluating animals. The interactive format allowed members to ask questions, do inspections for faults and gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics that contribute to both show ring success and long-term breed improvement. Educational opportunities such as this clinic play an important role in the ABGA's mission of promoting breeder education and advancing the Boer goat industry. Whether participants were aspiring judges, experienced breeders, exhibitors, or youth members looking to strengthen their evaluation skills, the clinic offered valuable insight from respected industry leaders. ABGA extends its appreciation to Olivia Rush, Patrick Aliff, and Corey Billups for sharing their knowledge and expertise, and to all the members who participated in making the clinic a successful and engaging educational event during the 2026 National Show.

The 2026 ABGA National Show welcomed a distinguished international delegation from Japan, highlighting growing interest in American Boer Goat genetics and the potential for future export opportunities between the United States and Japan. The five-member delegation traveled to Grand Island, Nebraska, to learn more about the American Boer Goat industry, meet with breeders and industry leaders, and evaluate the quality of genetics currently being produced in the United States. The delegation included: Honoka Miyagi – Okinawa Prefectural Government Riku Yasumura – Okinawa Livestock Research Center Akira Yohena – Okinawa Livestock Improvement Association Eitaro Tabata – Japan Agriculture (JA) Okinawa Goat Production Promotion Council Dr. Yoko Tsukahara – Kyoto University Their visit comes as Japanese industry leaders continue exploring opportunities to reopen access to American Boer Goat genetics. Prior to 2000, Japan imported genetics from the United States and developed a strong appreciation for the quality, performance, and consistency of American bloodlines. While Japanese producers have continued to utilize Boer genetics from other countries in recent years, members of the delegation recalled the significant impact American genetics had on their programs and were eager to see firsthand how the breed has progressed in the United States. Throughout the National Show, the delegation observed competitions, evaluated livestock, and visited with breeders from across the country. They were impressed by the quality and consistency of today's American Boer goats and indicated that their observations reinforced their long-held belief that the United States remains the leader in Boer goat genetic advancement. During their visit, the delegation met with ABGA Executive Director Caleb Boardman, members of the ABGA Board of Directors, and representatives of the American Boer Goat Foundation (ABGF). Discussions focused on breed improvement, performance programs, industry growth, genetic evaluation, and opportunities for future international collaboration. The group also spent considerable time networking with producers, learning about the diverse breeding programs represented at the National Show, and gaining insight into the management practices that have contributed to the continued success of American Boer goat operations. As a gesture of partnership and shared commitment to advancing the breed, the delegation members were granted memberships in the American Boer Goat Association. This milestone further strengthens the relationship between the organizations and establishes a foundation for continued communication and cooperation moving forward. The visit represents an exciting opportunity for the American Boer Goat industry. As discussions continue regarding future access to U.S. genetics, the delegation's positive assessment of American Boer goats serves as a testament to the dedication of ABGA members and breeders who have worked tirelessly to improve the breed over the past several decades. The ABGA extends its appreciation to Honoka Miyagi, Riku Yasumura, Akira Yohena, Eitaro Tabata, and Dr. Yoko Tsukahara for their visit and engagement during the National Show. We look forward to fostering this international relationship and exploring new opportunities to showcase American Boer Goat genetics on the global stage.

TiAnna Doyle TiAnna Doyle is from Martinsburg, WV where she and her husband, Terry, reside with their daughters, Ellee and Lilly. They own and operate Doyle Family Farm and raise registered Boer goats. When they are not traveling to shows they can be found at their daughter’s show choir events, volleyball games or enjoying a day on the river. TiAnna and her family have been involved in the Boer goat industry since 2022. Her daughter, Ellee, bred and raised the 2024 National Reserve Overall Grand Champion Buck. TiAnna serves on the Mid Atlantic Goat Association and assists with ring steward duties at several of their shows. TiAnna and her husband also put on Blooms & Boers and Boers & Bonfire shows held in Berkeley County, WV. This will be TiAnna’s first time as a Superintendent for the National show and she is looking forward to working with the exhibitors and helping make this a wonderful event for all.
