ABGA and JABGA are now accepting scholarship applications for the 2024 year. ABGA and JABGA Now Accepting 2024 Scholarship Applications ABGA and JABGA are now accepting scholarship applications for the 2024 year. The American Boer Goat Association (ABGA) and Junior American Boer Goat Association (JABGA) are now accepting scholarship applications for 2024. Applications will be due to the ABGA office via electronic form or regular mail by April 1, 2024. The American Boer Goat Association scholarship program is designed to encourage the educational enhancement of young Boer goat breeders by awarding annual scholarships. This program is open to any active ABGA or JABGA member, 21 years of age or under, who has been involved in ABGA or JABGA programs. Application Guidelines Applicants must be members of the Junior American Boer Goat Association (JABGA) or American Boer Goat Association (ABGA). The applicant must be either a high school senior or a college student (21 years of age or under) as of January 1st of the year the application is submitted. Winners will be recognized at the 2024 ABGA and JABGA National Show. The applicant may receive the scholarship only one time. The recipient will be selected by the ABGA Scholarship Committee members, none of whom have children applying for the ABGA Scholarship. If selected to receive a scholarship by the American Boer Goat Association Scholarship Committee, the scholarship applicant will be required to verify their enrollment in an institution of higher education by September 30, 2024. Upon receipt of enrollment verification, the scholarship award check will be sent to the institution. Failure to meet enrollment requirements in year scholarship is awarded will result in forfeiture of the scholarship. Application Procedure and Instructions You must submit a copy of your final high school and/or college transcript for the Fall 2023 Semester. Application material must include two letters of recommendation. The recommendations may come from employers, teachers, ag leaders, junior advisors, pastors, etc. They may not include applicants, parents, ABGA Board of Directors members, or ABGA employees. The two letters of recommendation and transcripts must be submitted together to the American Boer Goat Association. April 1, 2024, is the deadline for submitting the application material. Materials must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service on or before April 1, 2024. Materials postmarked after this date will not be accepted. Applications submitted by email must be received by the ABGA office no later than 11:59 PM CST on the submission date (April 1, 2024). Selection Scholarship recipients will be selected by members of the ABGA Scholarship Committee, none of whom have children applying for the JABGA scholarship program. Each applicant may only receive the scholarship one time. Recognition ABGA scholarship recipients will be recognized at the 2024 ABGA and JABGA National Show in Louisville. Ky. How to Create iCompete Membership ABGA Membership Renewal Form Join the American Boer Goat Association American Boer Goat Association The annual Adult Membership fee is $75. ABGA Memberships run from January 1 through December 31 of each year You must be 21 years of age or older to join as an Adult Member. You may add up to two Authorized Agents on your application. If you need to add more in the future, please contact the ABGA office. Please choose up to three unique Herd Prefixes on your application, as you first choice may be in use by an existing member. We will choose the first available prefix. Your prefix cannot be changed once it's approved. You may also choose an optional Herd Name for an additional one-time $20 fee. Once chosen, your herd name may be removed but not changed. Junior American Boer Goat Association The annual Junior Membership fee is $30. JABGA Memberships run from January 1 through December 31 of each year JABGA Members must be under 21 years of age. JABGA Members must have an active Adult ABGA member as an Authorized Agent. Adult members may add up to three new Junior Memberships on your application. If you need to add more, please contact the ABGA office for further assistance. Junior Members may use the same Herd Prefix as their adult Authorized Agent, or their own unique Herd Prefix.

Evangeline Street Hey everyone, my name is Evangeline Street, and I am 19 years old! I graduated from Umatilla High School in Umatilla, FL. Through my years in high school, I was able to obtain my AICE Diploma and graduate with 24 credited college hours, without needing to dual enroll in college! I am currently attending Lake Technical College to obtain my LPN license. Once I do, I plan to transfer to Lake Sumter State College to get my RN and BSN, which then I will transfer to Advent Health University to become a Nurse Anesthetist. I have been showing Boer goats since 4th grade, going on 12 years! What started with a sponsored meat goat project has flourished into what my breeding program is today. On top of showing Boer goats, I have also had the opportunity to show swine and steer through 4H and FFA. I have been an active member of the JABGA for 6 years now! Within the last few years, the JABGA has allowed me to develop relationships with other members and adults/ mentors and deepen my passion for this industry. My dedication, strong work ethic, and commitment to promoting the Boer goat breed continue to shape my involvement and future within the livestock community. I have had other leadership opportunities and officer positions through FFA and 4H, including reporter and secretary. During my pastime I love being in the barn with my goats, whether it is getting them ready for a show or just spending quality time with them. Outside of showing livestock, I love to spend time with my family and friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime! Some fun facts about me are that my favorite coffee shop is Dutch Bros and I love going out to eat Mexican! In high school I played golf, soccer, and tennis as well as participated in National Honor Society, Key Club, FFA, and 4H. I am looking forward to serving as the JABGA Area 4 BOD!
