Executive Director - Caleb Boardman, a livestock judging coach in Texas, excels in competitions and promotes youth involvement in agriculture with his family. Caleb Boardman lives in Bryan, TX with his wife Kylie and 3 children – Cash (6), Tatum (4) and Tinsley (4). Caleb has spent the past 9 years on faculty at the University of Wyoming and most recently at Texas A&M as the coordinator and head coach of the livestock judging teams. Over that period, his teams won over 25 contests and were Reserve National Champions in 2022 and 2023. He coached 13 academic All-Americans and over 100 individual top-10 finishes. Caleb is originally from Northern Wyoming where he grew up on a large cattle operation focused on SimAngus genetics. Caleb attended Coffeyville Community College in Kansas where was named an All-American Livestock Judge and received his associates degree. He then attended Texas A&M University and was on the 2011 Reserve National Champion Livestock Judging Team and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness. He continued his education at A&M receiving his Master’s in ruminant nutrition while also serving as the graduate assistant coach, including coaching the 2013 National Champion Team. Caleb and his family own and operate Boardman Livestock focusing on blackface club lambs and enjoy working with families and youth in the showring. SAN ANGELO, TEXAS – NOVEMBER 2022 – The American Boer Goat Association’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce it has named Hannah Jenkins as its new Junior American Boer Goat Association (JABGA) Youth Coordinator. Hannah brings a history of youth development and meat animal knowledge to JABGA as its Youth Coordinator, as part of ongoing growth efforts in ABGA’s youth programs. Hannah Jenkins grew up in California, where she showed pigs across the nation. After high school, she attended Kansas State University and majored in animal science. Hannah was a member of the Reserve Champion Meat Judging Team and the National Champion Meat Animal Evaluation Team. Outside of school, she served on the National Junior Swine Association (NJSA) Junior Board of Directors and was a camp facilitator for Next Level Livestock Camps. Today, Hannah lives in Norman, Okla. with her husband Jesse and their three dogs. The Junior American Boer Goat Association (JABGA) is now accepting applications for the JABGA Board of Directors . The JABGA Board of Directors works alongside the ABGA Board of Directors to represent JABGA members across five areas of the United States as the main governing body of the Junior American Boer Goat Association (JABGA). JABGA Directors volunteer their personal time and effort in service of JABGA programs like the JABGA Regional Show Series and by promoting core JABGA values like scholarship, leadership, good sportsmanship, and character development. The JABGA Board of Directors also serves as youth ambassadors for the improvement and promotion of the Boer goat breed through the breeding, raising, and exhibition of American Boer Goats. The Boer goat was first founded in the early 1900s by Dutch farmers of South Africa. The first full-blood Boers were brought to the United States in 1993; ABGA formed the same year. Today’s American Boer Goat Association is the largest Boer association in the world with 7,000 members annually. OUR STORY STARTED MORE THAN 100 YEARS AGO The Boer goat was developed by Dutch farmers in South Africa in the early 1900s. They were brought to the United States in 1993. The American Boer Goat Association (ABGA) was founded that same year. A unique breed, it is popular for its amazing meat production. The Boer goat has a rapid growth rate, excellent carcass qualities and is highly adaptive to different environments. Docile and highly fertile, these traits set the Boer goat apart in the purebred and commercial segments of the American meat goat industry. Today, the ABGA offers a variety of opportunities in marketing, education, and the commercial industry and for youth through the Junior American Boer Goat Association. ABGA is the largest Boer goat association in the world with more than 7,000 members. The association registers more than 45,000 head annually. OUR HISTORY

Being a Mentor by Logan Hollen Finding a mentor in a new program, like JABGA, provides guidance, builds experience, and fosters shared passion to achieve your goals. When joining any program or association it can be easy to feel as though you are always one step behind. Everyone already has a routine and a set way of doing their selected tasks. How can you find yourself within a new program or association? From my own experience I would say that finding a mentor can be very beneficial. I have had the pleasure of growing up in the Junior American Boer Goat Association atmosphere and while growing up in this association I have met so many people who have kept me focused and on track to meet my goals. By having these teachers in my life, I have reached many of my set goals but more importantly I have created a strong and set path that helped me reach those goals. With a mentor you are not only learning but experiencing what they have gone through in the past and present. This alone gives you more experience to then build a stronger program of your own. I have had the opportunity to be a mentor myself while working on the JABGA board of directors. It has been a wonderful experience getting to meet so many young individuals that have fallen in love with the same association that I fell in love with many years ago. At the end of the day, we all have the same goals and passion and by being a mentor you can give the experience to help others reach those goals pushed by their own passion. So, the next time you find yourself needing a guide or looking for a push in the right direction just remember that this association is filled with people who want to see you succeed! Back to Board of Directors Sydney Black Region 6 Email Sydney Black was born and raised in Southeast, Iowa on the generational family farm. Sydney was very active in FFA and 4-H while in high school; showing cattle and market/breeding goats. She completed her Agricultural of Science Degree at Kirkwood Community College in 2022 and has since been employed at Brenneman Pork as their Livestock Accountant. Sydney and her family have been breeding and raising Boer goats since 2016, beginning as local producers and slowly transitioning to a customer base nationwide. In recent years, their genetics have won banners at the national level and found their way overseas. Sydney is passionate about animal husbandry and the Boer goat industry. Meet JABGA Area 3 Regional Show Secretary & One of Our National Show Superintendents Being the JABGA Area 3 Regional Show Secretary is all about paying it forward for Adrienne and Joe Kidder. Adrienne & Joe Kidder Being the JABGA Area 3 Regional Show Secretary is all about paying it forward for Adrienne and Joe Kidder. “Our daughter would not be who she is today without all the experiences she gained from the JABGA,” said Adrienne Kidder. “We just wanted to give back with hopes to help other families.” Becoming the Show Secretary started when they were approached by a couple of local breeders and the president of the JABGA about hosting a show. Indiana is known as the Crossroads of America, Adrienne explained. Several major interstate systems cross in Indiana. Adrienne & Hannah Kidder “We all felt it would be the perfect location for a JABGA Regional Show,” said Adrienne, who joined the American Boer Goat Association (ABGA) for her daughter Hannah. After joining the ABGA, they started Kidder Show Stock and their own breeding program. They gathered different bloodlines from some of the best breeders in the business, Adrienne explained. “We love selling our does and bucks to the youth, whether it is to JABGA members, 4-H or FFA members,” she added. “The smile on the kids’ faces and the accomplishments they gain is why we do this.” While doing this, the Kidder family has grown. “The friends that we have met in this industry we consider like family,” Adrienne said. Joe Kidder But this isn’t the only way Joe is involved in the ABGA. He’s also a 2022 National Show Superintendent. Joe said he was first was given the opportunity to be a Superintendent by Jesse Kimmel’s suggestion for him to volunteer. Through that suggestion, Joe was able to get more involved with the National Show. “ Being a National Show Superintendent I feel is an honor,” he said. “It has been a great opportunity to be able to give back to the ABGA and the wonderful breeders of this industry.” Related Posts
